Deutsche Bank partners with The Score for the “Choir of the Year 2014” Festival

Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation announced today its partnership with The Score to support the “Choir of the Year” festival and competition in 2014. This partnership comes as part of the bank’s 5 years anniversary celebrations of its Middle East Foundation and its commitment to promote art and culture in the MENA region.
The "Choir of the Year” programme aims to create a dynamic buzz around choral singing in the Gulf region. With individual choir and fun-for-all audience workshops, the festival will celebrate the best of the region’s choral scene showcasing local and international choirs, the extraordinary vocal virtuosity of the British group “Prince Consort” and the winners from 2013.
The three days festival will take place for the second time in March 2014 for both adult and child choral enthusiasts from across the GCC. Judged by a team of international experts from the world of choral music, the competitions and workshops will feature a minimum of 40 schools and 20 adult choirs from around the GCC.
Commenting on the partnership, Philippe Vollot, Chairman of Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation and the Bank’s regional Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are delighted to establish this partnership with The Score. This Festival will offer a unique opportunity for both kids and adults to enjoy the passion of singing through the competition and workshops. At Deutsche Bank, we have a proud legacy of supporting creativity, and we hope to continue to build on this unique contribution.”
Joanna Marsh, Programme Curator and Composer in Residence at The Score, said: “Singing together in a Choir is a fascinating way to unite communities and cultures through the shared performance and enjoyment of music. Last year, an enthusiastic 2,000 people participated in the workshops, sang in the competitions and were a part of the audience over the 3 day extravaganza. Through our partnership with Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation, we are looking forward to further extend the success of the festival for the years to come.”
Established in 2008, Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation is one of the Bank’s many foundations around the globe across Asia, Africa and the Americas. In addition, Deutsche Bank has active Corporate Social Responsibility programs across Europe and the UK.  Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation focuses on funding investments in arts, education, community development, sustainability, and volunteering in the Middle East and North Africa region.
