As the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) in Sydney reopens this week, the doors to Deutsche Bank’s Education Partnership programs will be opened to a whole new audience.
The National Centre for Creative Learning is at the heart of the MCA’s redevelopment which for the first time will have a dedicated space to deliver the Museum’s innovative education programs.
As the first ever Education Partner of the MCA, Deutsche Bank supports the Museum’s primary school, secondary school and teachers programs. These programs incorporate different learning styles and explore exhibitions, artists’ practice and the art world, both at the Museum and remotely through digital excursions.
Scott Perkins, Head of Corporate Finance, Deutsche Bank said: “The reopening of the MCA and its National Centre for Creative Learning is an important milestone for contemporary art in Australia. The new facilities and redesigned education program will make art more accessible for more young Australians than ever before.”
Deutsche Bank believes that funds spent on community engagement must be spent well. With increased scrutiny on the bottom line combined with an increased demand for transparency from stakeholders, a high “social return” on any investment is expected and the corporate world and the philanthropic world truly need to work together in a partnership model.
“Our Education Partnership with the MCA ticks several boxes for us,” added Perkins. “It addresses three of the five pillars of Deutsche Bank’s corporate social responsibility program – Art, Education and Social Investment, with an organisation we consider a true partner.
“We are especially pleased that in addition to supporting the MCA’s existing programs, Deutsche Bank’s support will see the Museum’s education opportunities made available to the local community charities we support.”
Deutsche Bank’s commitment to the MCA will also see the two organisations collaborate to bring significant works from the Deutsche Bank Collection, one of the world’s largest and most important corporate contemporary art collections, to Australia for the first time.
