Deutsche Bank appoints George Buckley Chief UK Economist


Deutsche Bank today announced that George Buckley has been appointed Chief UK Economist. Buckley will continue to be based in London and be responsible for analysis of the UK business cycle and monetary policy developments. He will report to Thomas Mayer, Chief Euroland Economist.

"George is a well-established and highly-regarded commentator on UK economic and monetary policy issues and we are pleased to see him step-up to the role of Chief UK Economist", said Marcel Cassard, Deutsche's Global Head of Macroeconomic, Emerging Market & Fixed Income Research. "Deutsche Bank has a long history of excellence in commentating on UK economic issues, and I am confident George will maintain, if not strengthen, our standing in the period ahead".

Buckley joined Deutsche Bank in 1998 having completed his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Bristol. Buckley also has an MSc in Economics and Finance and a BA in Economics. Buckley replaces Ciaran Barr, effective immediately.
