Deutsche Bank relaunches coverage of the Electric Utilities Sector

Director John Kiani joins from Credit Suisse Group
Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. today announced the hire of John Kiani as a Director within the Global Markets Division's Company Research team. He will be responsible for equity research coverage of the Electric Utilities sector, joining Shannon Nome and her Oil & Gas Exploration and Production team in Houston. Kiani will also work closely with Deutsche Bank's New York-based energy equity research team of Paul Sankey, Mike Urban and Adam Sieminski, and will report to Steve Pollard, Managing Director and Director of Equity and High Grade Product.

Kiani joins Deutsche Bank from Credit Suisse, where he was the lead analyst covering US Electric Utilities in Texas, the West and the Midwest and also covered the North American independent power producers. Previously, he was a Senior Research Associate at Morgan Stanley, covering both electric and natural gas utility companies. Prior to becoming an equity research analyst, Kiani held several positions in corporate finance within the energy industry. He holds a BA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Rice University.

"We are excited to re-establish coverage of the electric utilities sector and thrilled to add John to our team," said Pollard. "John's extensive knowledge of the utilities sector will complement our existing, industry-leading energy research team and allows us to provide insightful and topical proprietary research to our clients."

Deutsche Bank was recently ranked the top bulge-bracket firm for equities research by an Investars survey of asset managers, research directors, analysts, individual investors and financial institutions. The rankings measured one-year performance of Deutsche Bank's stock picks vs. the S&P 500.
