Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Deutsche Bank in the United States, today announced a commitment of $600,000 to pioneering mid-size arts and cultural organizations in all five boroughs of New York City. Grants of $100,000.00 were awarded to the following organizations: the Bronx Museum; Harlem Stage; Queens Museum of Art; Queens Theatre in the Park; Staten Island Museum; and the Weeksville Heritage Center.
New York City’s cultural sector has never been more vibrant or diverse with cutting edge artistic activities redefining the City’s cultural landscape. In recent years, many mid-size cultural institutions have undergone major capital campaigns to build new or enhanced facilities and have thus redefined neighborhoods of the City as cultural destinations. This is an opportunity to further advance the status of these organizations as world class institutions with unique programming, financial stability, and strong ties to their local communities and superlative governance.
To help these organizations seize the opportunities before them, Deutsche Bank developed the New Spaces grants program. Resources are being provided to fulfill strategic and transformative goals that will result in sustainable and enduring institutions that contribute to New York City’s continuing status as the world’s cultural capital.
"We enjoy a moment in history when almost every neighborhood of New York City is alive with ideas and creativity. The six organizations selected to receive grants comprise a constellation of cultural innovation which we are proud to invest in.” said Gary Hattem, President of the Deutsche Bank Foundation.
