Deutsche Bank holds 6th Annual Women in European Business London Conference

Deutsche Bank yesterday held its 6th Annual Women in European Business (WEB) London conference at The Barbican. The event was attended by close to 1000 delegates, the largest number of attendees to date.

The theme of this year’s conference, “Taking Ownership of Your Career” explored the individual’s role in managing and taking ownership of her own career - looking at strategies for career planning and progression.

Delegates heard from a panel of speakers: Gubby Ayida, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, The Women’s Wellness Centre, Barbara Cassani, former Chief Executive of airline “Go” and former Chair of London’s 2012 Olympic bid, Larry Hirst CBE, Chief Executive, IBM UK Ltd, Nicola Harrison, Head of Institutional Client Group Sales, Northern Europe, Deutsche Bank and Caroline Sami, Chief Executive Officer, Id:ology Consultancy. The event was moderated by Newsnight’s main presenter Kirsty Wark.

Issues explored at the event included the role taking risks plays in career progression, the importance of individuality and the challenges of achieving a work-life balance.

As in previous years, the Deutsche Bank WEB London Conference seeks to create an environment in which women can share their experiences, develop contacts and identify role models to help further their careers. The event is also a catalyst for building a business community of women in the City.

Elaine Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer, Global Banking, Deutsche Bank and Chair of the WEB 2007 Executive Committee said “We are delighted to have hosted the WEB London conference for the sixth consecutive year. We hope the event will help to equip women from across the UK business community with new ideas and tools for planning and furthering their career.”
