Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. today announced that John Redpath has joined as a Managing Director and Global Head of Oil Products and Agriculture Trading in the Global Markets division. In this role, Redpath will further develop the existing crude and oil products trading businesses and launch an agriculture trading business. Redpath is based in New York and reports to David Silbert, Managing Director and Global Head of Commodities.
Redpath joins from Citigroup, where he was a Managing Director and Head of the Global Oil and Metals Trading group. Prior to working at Citigroup, Redpath was Head of US Commodity Trading at BNP Paribas and, previously, Head of Commodity Trading at Credit Agricole Indosuez. Redpath began his career as an oil market consultant at Energy Market Consultants, where he analyzed global trends in oil production, consumption, inventories, and refinery activity.
“Conditions in emerging markets and shifts in dietary habits and weather patterns make this an opportune time to trade agriculture commodities,” said Silbert. “We are confident that John is well-suited to build our agriculture business and grow the existing crude and oil products business and we are pleased to welcome him to our team.”
Last month, Deutsche Bank announced that Simon Grenfell joined as Head of Commodities, Asia and Ray Key joined as Global Head of Metals Trading.
