Adam Boyton succeeds Tony Meer as Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank in Australia

With effect from 1 July, 2010, Adam Boyton becomes the new Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank in Australia. He succeeds Tony Meer, who will retire from the industry to focus on growing his successful indoor climbing business.

Adam Boyton is presently Deutsche Bank's North American based G10 currency strategist. He is the author of Deutsche Bank's: “The New York View” which is one of the most widely read FX research pieces in the market. Adam joined Deutsche Bank in 2000 as a member of the Australian economics team and has worked with Don Stammer, Ivan Colhoun and Tony Meer. Adam moved to the United States in 2007 to run the New York FX strategy franchise.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Adam was a Senior Economist in the Australian Treasury Department and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. He has also served as the Chief of Staff and Policy Director for a State Opposition Leader.

Michael Ormaechea, Head of Global Markets Australia and New Zealand, said, “Tony steps down from the role of Chief Economist after 16 years of distinguished service for Deutsche Bank Australia – six of those as the Chief Economist. His dedication to the role has been a major contributor to the dominance of Deutsche Bank's economic and fixed income research in industry polls over the past decade. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

“We’re pleased to welcome Adam back to Deutsche Bank Australia. His considerable experience analysing the Australian economy, combined with his recent US experience will be of great benefit to our clients. Together with David Plank, the Head of Macro Research and Strategy for Australia/NZ, we aim to maintain the research team's top ranked position for Australian macroeconomic and fixed income research1 and continue to provide leading research for our clients.”
