Deutsche Bank Holds First-Ever Classical Music Concert to Demonstrate CR Commitment in the UAE

As part of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility in the Middle East North Africa region, Deutsche Bank announced today the holding of a classical music concert in Dubai on May 21, 2010, with the aim of supporting culture and arts in the UAE by fostering creativity.

The concert, Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, marks the first time Deutsche Bank has organized independently a musical concert, and is taking place under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Youth, Culture and Community Development and in partnership with the American University in Dubai.  As part of its commitment to the Ministry, Deutsche Bank will be sponsoring cultural trips to Germany for Emirati students.

Henry Azzam, Chairman of the Deutsche Bank Middle East Foundation and the Bank’s CEO in the region, said “Since we launched the Deutsche Bank Middle East Foundation in 2008, we have undertaken many projects in support of art and music, social investments, sustainability and education.  Our commitment to CSR in the region is an integral part of Deutsche Bank’s business policy and process under the guiding principle of creating social capital.”

The 200 member chorus and orchestra have been drawn from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region to form the UAE Festival Orchestra and Chorus, which will be conducted by Martyn Bagnall. Also taking part will be four internationally renowned soloists.

Mounir Husseini, Deutsche Bank’s Chief Country Officer in the UAE, said “We are pleased to have partnered with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, to bring to music lovers and aspiring artists this unique musical event that has managed to combine Deutsche Bank’s continued investment in art and education in the UAE.  The Bank has a proud legacy in support of creativity, and we hope to continue to build on this unique contribution.”

The Deutsche Bank Middle East Foundation was the latest initiative to join the family of the Bank’s foundations in Asia, Africa and the Americas.  It focuses on funding investments in art, education, community development, sustainability, and volunteering in the region.

The concert will take place at the main auditorium of the American University in Dubai, at 20:00.
