Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation celebrates its 5th anniversary

Deutsche Bank celebrates today the 5 year anniversary of its Middle East Foundation. The Foundation focuses on supporting projects from the region and wants to give back to the societies Deutsche Bank is operating in. The foundation was established on the 23rd November 2008 and is one of the Bank’s many foundations around the globe across Asia, Africa and the Americas. All foundations actively engage with the societies that the bank is operating in additionally to its active Social Responsibility programs across Europe and the UK.

Since its establishment, Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation focused on funding initiatives and projects in education, community development, sustainability, and volunteering from within the MENA region. It carried out independently several projects in support of Arts and Culture; and was awarded four times in a row from 2009 until 2012 with the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum Patrons of the Arts Awards.

Commenting on the occasion, Philippe Vollot, Chairman of Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation and the Bank’s regional Chief Operating Officer, said: “The decision to establish the Middle East Foundation came from our deep-seated belief in the necessity of companies contributing to the societies in which they operate. The fifth anniversary of Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation reflects our strong and long-standing commitment to the Middle East and its people, and our desire to positively contribute to shaping its future, and in turn, our own.”

Throughout the years, Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation supported many regional and local NGO projects and initiatives to build social capital by creating opportunities, fostering talent and ensuring long-term viability in the region such as: Palestine Association for Children’s Encouragement of Sport in Palestine, BADER in Lebanon, Intellectual Education Institute for Girls in Riyadh, Misr Alkheir Foundation in Egypt and Rashid Pediatric Therapy Center in the United Arab Emirates.

In addition, Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation works closely with global foundations and organizations like Save the Children and the World Wide Fund for Nature in support of their regional programs to improve the lives of the underprivileged, to pave ways to a better future and to raise ecological awareness.
