Deutsche Bank and Brownbook exhibit objects from the Emirates in the DIFC

Deutsche Bank's Middle East Foundation in collaboration with Brownbook announced today the start of the ‘Objects of the Emirates’ exhibition taking place in the Dubai International Financial Center.

Divided into multiple categories, the exhibition will highlight everything from traditional Emirati clothing, jewellery and beauty products to household and kitchen items, fishing tools, musical instruments and even falcon training accessories.

The exhibition features these objects as unique illustrations, presented in a large open air space within the DIFC Gate Village. The chosen objects will provide an insight into the traditional, everyday life of the country, paying homage to the creativity and resourcefulness of the Bedouins, fishermen and date palm farmers who constituted the sparse population of the United Arab Emirates in the past.

Commenting on the exhibition, Philippe Vollot, Chairman of Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation and Bank’s regional Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are delighted to partner with Brownbook to create this brilliant exhibition as it will offer a unique opportunity for its visitors to explore the Emirati culture. Through our Middle East Foundation we continue to bring our unparalleled global commitment to the communities where we live and operate in."

Nick Miller from Brownbook, said: “While some of the exhibited objects have become increasingly obsolete today by the advent of new technologies, a significant number of them continue to play an important role in Emirati culture, representing local identity, values, traditions and customs, which continue to be cherished and practiced by large segments of society today. We thank Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation for its support to bring this exhibition to live and showcase the traditions of the UAE culture.”

The open air exhibition is open to the public from Saturday 28 June, for over 2 months taking place in the podium level of Gate Village Building 2 at Dubai International Financial Center. Afterwards, it will be moved to the new Design District in Down Town Area where it will also be shown for one month during the opening of the District.
