Providing the best beginning

For poor families, pre-school can seem an unaffordable expense.

Pre-school education is vital to a child’s development. It helps children to develop mentally, physically, socially and emotionally.

Our partnership with Mother Touch Academy enables children from impoverished communities in the densely-populated Diepsloot settlement to attend pre-school.

Mother Touch provides a positive, safe and caring environment for children aged 6 months to 6 years. Most of the children are disadvantaged and vulnerable. As well as providing a stimulating learning environment, Mother Touch provides the nutrition they need to be able to learn and play.

Our partnership has helped establish Mother Touch as an educational centre within the community. In 2013, we funded a teacher training programme run by our partner Brainwave Careers at Mother Touch for 40 teachers from local pre-schools in Diepsloot.
