Getting the basics right

All children have basic needs.

If you live in an environment where you don’t have access to basic necessities, realising your potential becomes particularly difficult.

Since 2008, we’ve been helping poor communities in the Diepsloot and Lanseria areas near Johannesburg to access services that support the personal wellbeing of their children.

Through the Mothers and Vulnerable Children Project run by Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre, field workers identify orphans and vulnerable children whose families and caregivers need support.

Most live in difficult conditions in informal settlements. Through advice, training, activities and others forms of assistance, the project helps these children to be looked after properly at home, so they can go to school.
