Deutsche Bank sponsors StreetSmart this Christmas

Deutsche Bank is pleased to sponsor StreetSmart, the charity that helps Britain’s homeless.

For ten years, StreetSmart has encouraged diners to eat out at Christmas, so that while feasting at a fine restaurant, they’re also helping StreetSmart pile on the pounds for Britain’s homeless.

StreetSmart’s method of fundraising is both innovative and effective: a voluntary £1 per table is added to restaurant diners’ bills during November and December. And because Deutsche Bank covers their operating costs, every StreetSmart £1 goes to those most in need.

Last year £455,000 was raised during the 2-month campaign, of which approximately £340,000 came from London. The funds raised are needed as much now as they have ever been. StreetSmart gives grants to homeless charities that not only provide emergency food, shelter and advice, but also long-term relief, education and training for the increasing number of hidden homeless in UK cities.

StreetSmart’s achievements have been built on the loyalty and support of famous chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Antony Worrall Thompson, Fergus Henderson, Giorgio Locatelli and Rowley Leigh. Diners at their restaurants, as well as those at Oxo Tower, Nobu, E&O, Butler’s Wharf Chop House, The Living Room, Smiths of Smithfield and Wild Honey, all contributed to the £455,000 raised last year.

This year’s campaign is off to a good start, with restaurants such as Tom Ilic, Quo Vadis, Hibiscus, The Botanist, L’Anima and Dehesa, joining the campaign for the first time.
