Graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2007, Andy produces work on the fringes of destruction and disappearance engaging with the traces of obsolescence that abound in a culture of over-production. His paintings, prints, films and sculptural objects expose a love of physical construction and historical time.
Andy's attention to presentation techniques goes on to question use and labour values, as the position of the artist, viewer, and exhibition space are brought into sharp focus through temporary intervention, multiple production and ephemerality.
As a result of the Deutsche Bank Award, Parker is undertaking a three-month residency on the remote island of St Helena in the South Atlantic. This will give him the opportunity to more closely explore the relationship of human need and abundance, in relation to physical activity and material goods.
