Produced and delivered by Shakespeare's Globe professionals, the production delivers fast-paced, compelling Shakespeare, especially designed for 11 to 16 year olds and enjoyed by people of all ages. Deutsche Bank employees can support the project by purchasing tickets for a special staff performance.
This year 16,000 free tickets have been given to state secondary students, and Globe Education has provided workshops for over 3,000 students and 100 teachers with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions. The accompanying interactive website, playingshakespeare.org is populated with teaching resources, information sheets and creative briefs for teachers and students, creating a 360-degree learning experience.
Over 78,000 students have experienced a performance over the last eight years, but the Globe Education and Deutsche Bank partnership is much more than a free ticket. Lareena Hilton, Global Head of Brand Communications & Corporate Citizenship at Deutsche Bank, commented, “Inspiring students with activities outside of the classroom encourages greater achievement in the classroom and this project is a motivator for young people to engage with content key to the national curriculum.”
The project is part of Deutsche Bank's youth engagement programme, Born to Be, which targets young people with education-led projects that aim to increase achievement, develop employability skills and raise aspirations.
