Changing futures. Without the stability of a job or family, young lives can quickly fall apart. Many stories of homelessness begin with unemployment and family breakdown. Those scenarios are more likely to be experienced by young people from deprived backgrounds. And without safe and secure accommodation, education and employment become much harder to access.

Our partnership with StreetSmart raises money to help the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless, with a focus on young people.

How it works

StreetSmart is a national fundraising campaign that runs every winter. During November and December, participating restaurants across the UK add a voluntary donation of £1 to every bill. Donations support local homelessness charities, so diners in Birmingham help the homeless in Birmingham. A sister campaign called SleepSmart sees participating hotels add £1 to every hotel bill.

Deutsche Bank covers all the administration costs for StreetSmart and SleepSmart, which means every penny raised goes to those who need it most. The campaign has raised over £4.5m together since 2006.

Get involved

Streetsmart gets amazing support from over 500 restaurants nationwide, but diner recommendations can make all the difference to whether a new restaurant signs up to the campaign. By engaging your favourite restaurants, you can help raise funds to support local projects. Simply download an information sheet and speak to the owner/manager next time you dine out.

All we need from you is the restaurant name, the owner/manager’s name, number and email address. Simply email all restaurant recommendations to The StreetSmart team will follow up with the restaurant with information on how to join the campaign.
