Winning Design Ventura product launches at Design Museum shop

June 2013 │ UK

From 13 June, the winning design from the Design Museum education programme - Design Ventura - is on sale in the museum shop. Selected by a distinguished panel of judges, including fashion designer Anya Hindmarch and product designer Sebastian Conran, Pics-Pins is a set of badges depicting iconic London buildings and was designed by pupils from Trinity School in Lewisham.

Run in partnership with Deutsche Bank, Design Ventura encourages young people aged 13 – 16 years old to engage and experience the design process and learn enterprise skills.

Each set of Pics-Pins contains three badges featuring a section of a famous London landmark: Big Ben, The Shard, BT Tower and Nelson’s Column which can be interchanged in the style to of the classic game ‘Consequences’.

Pics-Pins saw off competition from over 100 secondary schools to be named the winner. Their design will now be on sale exclusively in the Design Museum Shop priced at £4 a pack or two packs for £6. Over the last four months the pupils have been working with design studio Build and the Design Museum developing and fine tuning their product.

All profits made from Pics-Pins will be donated to The Architectural Heritage Fund and CATS Foundation: Cure and Action for Tay Sachs, the winners' charities of choice.

Design Ventura, now entering its fourth year, sees pupils pitch their designs to a panel of industry professionals and experts for the chance to create a product. In May 2013, Design Ventura was awarded The Educational Initiative prize by the Museums & Heritage Awards.

Lareena Hilton, Global Head of Brand and Visual Identity and UK Head of Communications & CSR at Deutsche Bank says: "Inspiring and equipping young people to reach their full potential is central to both Deutsche Bank’s six year partnership with the Design Museum and our wider commitment to education. We're pleased to see such an innovative product being launched as a result of the creativity and entrepreneurial thinking this has fostered in the young people involved."
