Inspiring debate on climate change

As part of Earth Week, Deutsche Bank employees will be teaming up with students from schools in Birmingham and London, to debate the motion ‘This House believes that the UK should prioritise economic recovery over combating climate change’.

At a time when governments around the world are struggling between investing in economic recovery and committing to averting climate change, this debate, taking place on 18 March, will challenge attitudes in the audience, as well as provide exciting educational opportunities for participants.

This event is the result of a partnership between Deutsche Bank and Debate Mate, a charity dedicated to improving social mobility using cost-effective peer-to-peer debate mentoring. Debate Mate works with young people in 177 state schools in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester, to help young people develop critical and verbal reasoning skills and discipline and also engage them with current affairs.

Deutsche Bank’s support enables Debate Mate’s largest competition of the year for schools: the Deutsche Bank Debate Mate Cup, which will be hosted at the Bank in June as part of the Bank’s commitment to providing exciting educational opportunities for young people through its Corporate Citizenship programme.
