Deutsche Bank sponsors Saatchi Gallery art prize

Deutsche Bank is continuing its strong commitment to the arts by sponsoring the Saatchi-Gallery Sunday Telegraph Art Prize for schools.

The competition is open to primary, secondary and sixth form schools from around the world. Over 15,000 pupils have entered the competition so far as the deadline for entries is 3 December.

A first prize of £10,000 will be awarded to the winning school’s art department, with a further £2,000 given to the winning pupil to be spent on art and computer equipment. There will be two further prizes to the second and third place schools and students.

The impressive judging panel was announced earlier this week and the confirmed judges include: Alistair Hicks, art advisor to Deutsche Bank; photographer Mary McCartney; Yinka Shonibare, the Turner Prize-nominated artist; Margot Heller, director of the South London Gallery; Andrew Graham-Dixon, The Sunday Telegraph's chief art critic; and Rebecca Wilson, associate director of the Saatchi Gallery.

There will be an exhibition of the 20 shortlisted entries at the Saatchi Gallery in January 2011, with Colin Grassie announcing the winner on January 12.
