Deutsche Bank's Teamwork Challenge for graduates

July and September 2011 │ London

Deutsche Bank’s graduate teamwork challenge has been recognised by the 2011 Financial World Innovation Awards.

The Financial World Innovation Awards have been running for more than a decade, recognising examples of the creativity, imagination and vision within the financial services industry. The Innovation in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award is aimed at organisations who can demonstrate the benefit to their employees, their business and to their local and global communities through engagement in corporate social responsibility initiatives. The Bank has been named a finalist in the 2011 award.

Deutsche Bank’s Graduate Teamwork Challenge, managed by Impact International, sees up to 800 graduates simultaneously spending two-days working on a CSR project with a community partner. Key to the success of the challenge is ensuring that these community projects reflect Deutsche Bank’s CSR proposition and organisational values.

Michelle Pepper, Head of Graduate Training at Deutsche Bank praised the success of the programme:  “Since our first Teamwork Challenge in 2002, Deutsche Bank’s innovative induction programme has powerfully highlighted the importance of CSR and community, whilst also providing our graduates with the opportunity to develop crucial networks through an engaging and memorable start to their career.”

This year more than 650 graduates worked for two days in July and September on a variety of construction and creative projects across nine sites in East London. The Global Class of 2011 assisted local schools by building and rejuvenating play equipment; creating gardening opportunities; painting murals to brighten playgrounds and constructing outdoor learning environments.

A selection of graduates from each of the nine sites also managed a creative project - "Learnopoly". This involved designing and delivering an interactive learning game to be played by both Deutsche Bank graduates and the school children. The learning elements were experiential, fun and in line with the national school curriculum. They created storyboards which highlighted the game from the school children's perspective. The storyboards will be on display at The Space at 23 Great Winchester Street, London from Tuesday, September 20 until Friday, October 28, 2011.
