More than 500 restaurants and 20 hotels across the UK will be adding an optional £1 to bills during November and December this year. By funding all of the costs of the campaign, Deutsche Bank ensures that every penny goes straight to homelessness charities working in the area to local to where you donate. Last year StreetSmart & StreetSmart raised over £465,000.

Homelessness isn’t an exclusive problem: it can affect anyone. Personal crises such as family breakdown, redundancy or leaving institutional living such as social care or the army can lead to a person becoming vulnerable and losing their stability, leading to a downwards spiral. 74,690 households in England are living in temporary accommodation, whilst according to official statistics each year 3,472 people sleep rough; anecdotal evidence suggests the actual figures may be much higher.
Projects funded by StreetSmart & SleepSmart are aimed at getting people off the streets and onto their feet again. Tackling homelessness is not just about providing shelter from the elements; it’s about providing advice, advocacy, education and meaningful occupation, and above all, care. Your donation goes to those who support people through crucial stages in their progress from vagrant to valued community member: from emotional support, to accessing longer term accommodation options, to life skills and employability training.
