Stride GBS and Finance employees build a tree house

July 2011 │ London

Over seven days, 120 GBS and Finance employees transformed an area of Oasis Children's Venture, Lambeth - one of very few nature gardens in London especially for children.

The Stride team created a multi-purpose wooden structure that will be used as a bird hide, a tree house and a performance area. They also completed some planting and landscaping activities as well as creating a 'mud pie' play area.

Working with the Involve team from Volunteer Centre Southwark, this was the largest Community Challenge project that both parties have ever undertaken.

"We would have never been able to complete a project like this without the team from Deutsche Bank. Their time and resources were essential." Joanne Brown, Director of Oasis Children's Venture.

"
The Community Challenge provided the Stride team with a great project. Not only did it enable the team to deliver a real-life project to a deadline, it also provided a chance for the participants to network. My team thoroughly enjoyed volunteering and their achievement is still creating a buzz in the office!" David Owen, Director, GBS Stride.

74 days of Community Challenges have been completed year to date involving over 1000 employees - this equates to almost 8000 hours of painting, planting, hammering, sawing, and facilitating!
