Great Wall of China trek

October │ UK

Over two weeks in October, the Great Wall of China played host to 90 Deutsche Bank employees, in their bid to raise money for The Eve Appeal and War Child, by walking 65km over three days.

The group was made up of employees from Birmingham, Guernsey, Jersey, London, Moscow, New York and even Sydney! Enduring sometimes treacherous paths, the route stretched 65km of the wall from Jiankou to Simatai, a stretch of the wall just outside of Beijing. Each group over three days scaled broken walls, ruins, farmland, narrow paths, 60° ascents and knee jolting descents to complete their 65km goal.

This has been the biggest group trek run by Corporate Citizenship UK which is also reflected in the extraordinary fundraising feat achieved. So far total fundraising stands at over £162,000, and it’s still rising!

Amongst birthdays and surprise marriage proposals, the trek proved to be a huge success, with each trekker leaving with a whole new experience and a great big sum raised for charity.
