Deutsche Bank’s support of the StreetSmart and SleepSmart Christmas campaigns has raised a record breaking £760,000 for charity - in just two months. This includes £200,000 of match funding from the government.
The campaigns, which run in restaurants and hotels nationwide every November and December, add an optional £1 donation to every bill. Deutsche Bank has been covering the costs of the campaign since 2006, so that every penny goes straight to local charities addressing homelessness.
The enormous fundraising success will benefit 102 projects across the country – all local to where the donation was made. All of this comes at a vital time, with the number of rough sleepers up 23% year on year.
New restaurants joining the campaign this year included: Heston Blumenthal’s "Dinner", Gordon Ramsey’s "Bread Street Kitchen" and Jason Atherton’s "Pollen Street Social". They join over 550 restaurants and hotels that take part every year.
Director of StreetSmart, Glenn Pougnet said “We feel that the total raised is truly outstanding in these tough times, and couldn’t have been achieved without the hard work of the restaurateurs and hoteliers and the generosity and goodwill of their customers."
To all of the Deutschbankers who have contributed to the campaign by donating £1 at one of the StreetSmart restaurants or SleepSmart hotels – a big thank you.
