Deutsche Bank Brazil volunteers to help the community

November 2012 │ São Paulo

Deutsche Bank Brazil has supported local NGOs for 13 years with contributions of both time and money. This year’s beneficiaries were Gotas de Flor com Amor and Sociedade Benfeitora Jaguaré.

Each year, the office’s Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility Committee reviews possible organizations that would benefit from both volunteer and funding support. All employees are able to nominate a worthwhile organization; the Committee then selects two organizations, each of whom receives a day of volunteer assistance to complete various projects and tasks. In association with the employees’ service, Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation provides a contribution to the NGO. Deutsche Bank employees and their families gathered for a volunteer day at each organization.

On August 18, 96 employees volunteered with Gotas de Flor com Amor and on September 1, 70 employees participated in community service with Jaguaré.

Founded in 1993, Gotas de Flor com Amor serves low-income children, young adults and their families in the São Paulo neighborhood of Brooklin. The nonprofit offers a variety of educational programs, ranging from reading and computer skills for 7-13 year-olds to apprenticeship classes for 18-21 year-olds. Volunteers provided various building improvements, such as painting walls and tidying the garden. Employees also organized books in the library and engaged children in recreational activities. The money raised through Deutsche Bank volunteer efforts will go towards programmatic services and fixing the organization’s roof. The volunteer day was closed by a speech from Bernardo Parnes, CEO Latin America and CCO Brazil, who thanked the participants for contributing their time and energy to a valuable cause.

Like Gotas de Flor com Amor, Sociedade Benfeitora Jaguaré serves a wide age range of children and young adults and provides an array of educational, professional, and recreational programming to low-income families. Jaguaré provides services for more than 1,500 youth and teens in a poor industrial district of São Paulo, with the aim to prepare these young people for a better future. Deutsche Bank employees assisted the organization with repairing and painting walls, windows and doors, and general external maintenance. The DB volunteer funds for Jaguaré will go towards renovating the building to expand services.
