A citywide day of service in Jacksonville

February 2016 │ Jacksonville, FL

Deutsche Bank Jacksonville volunteers joined local women leaders and community members to transform Duval County during the second annual Generation WORKS, a citywide day of service.

Deutsche Bank was the lead sponsor for this event initiated by Generation W, a nonprofit organization focused on educating, inspiring and connecting women and girls through various programs and initiatives. Generation WORKS, also called Gen WORKS, was developed to harness the powerful energy of women’s leadership and inspire others to make a difference in the community. The event mobilized hundreds of volunteers to complete more than 20 different projects throughout Jacksonville.

“Deutsche Bank was excited to partner with Generation W for the second year in a row, as the Generation WORKS Day of Service was a fantastic way to kick off our annual philanthropic efforts in Jacksonville,” said Leslie Slover, Regional Head of Jacksonville and of Cary, NC. “Not only was it an inspiration for women, but it motivated our broader Deutsche Bank Jacksonville office to become more active members of this great community.”

The event began just before sunrise at Jacksonville’s Unity Plaza. The Deutsche Bank teams, led by Jacksonville Executive Committee members and employee team captains, then went to five separate Duval County schools to work on various projects.

“Our engagement in Gen WORKS illustrated our commitment to integrity, sustainable performance and partnership,” said Stacey Foster from Risk, a lead ambassador for Gen WORKS. “We delivered to our highest standards, ensured that our work was impactful, and established deeper community partnerships along the way.”

The Bank partnered with the Jacksonville Public Education Fund, Duval County Public Schools and the United Way of Northeast Florida to organize school projects including planting new vegetable gardens, revamping libraries, painting classrooms and beautifying courtyards and grounds.
