Made for Good marketplace draws crowds at 60 Wall office

A monthly marketplace in the lobby of Deutsche Bank's New York City headquarters brings employees a range of artisan breads from the social enterprise Hot Bread Kitchen, a Made for Good project partner.

Held on a Friday afternoon, each "pop-up" has drawn dozens of employees shopping for weekend dinners, brunches and other entertaining. They peruse Hot Bread Kitchen's range of traditional and multi-ethnic breadsincluding challah, hearth breads, seasonal focaccia, bialys, m'smen (Moroccan flatbread) and lavash crackersand have a chance to talk to Hot Bread Kitchen staff about the organization's innovative programs and business model.

Hot Bread Kitchen has so far staged three pop-up marketplaces at 60 Wall. Each time, all quantities (hundreds of breads) sold out in a single hour, along with several copies of Hot Bread Kitchen's award-winning cookbook and aprons. The next marketplace will take place on Friday, April 28.

Based in East Harlem, Hot Bread Kitchen is a nonprofit social enterprise that provides workforce development and business incubation programs to help underserved women and food entrepreneurs overcome industry barriers and achieve economic stability. The organization is a flagship US partner of Deutsche Bank’s global Made for Good program, which supports creative and socially engaged enterprises whose innovative ideas, approaches and business models promise social and economic progress.
