Supporting the Harborside community

May 7, 2011 │ Jersey City, NJ

A team of 20 employees, their families and friends represented Deutsche Bank at the 13th annual Jersey Cares Day.

Organized by Jersey Cares, the event engaged 2,500 individual and group volunteers in revitalizing and beautifying schools, parks and community spaces throughout the state.

The Deutsche team, coordinated by the Americas Foundation, was assigned to the Martin Luther King, Jr. public elementary school. Volunteer projects at the site included painting educational murals in the first and second grade hallways with inspirational and anti-bullying themes.

"It was encouraging to see the attendance, as well as the talent, of Deutsche employees in supporting this good cause. It was an enjoyable day of teamwork which further demonstrates Deutsche Bank’s and its corporate social responsibility values," said Jay Banerjee, Head of US Private Wealth Management Operations.

Aside from being a day of service, Jersey Cares Day is the largest single day of fundraising for the Jersey Cares organization, which is committed to meeting pressing community needs by making volunteering easy and meaningful. The Deutsche team raised over USD 1000 and was awarded the "Top Corporate Fundraiser Award" for the third consecutive year. A certificate was presented to team members at an end-of-day volunteer recognition celebration held at the Prudential Center in Newark. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) also attended and spoke about the importance of giving back and participating in community activities.
