Contemporary youth and education research finds that many schoolchildren lack general financial knowledge. This is where So geht Geld (How money works) comes in. The project helps young people to acquire financial proficiency and gain a better understanding of economic issues.
Ten teaching modules are available, each one covering a different topic. Deutsche Bank employees go into schools to teach them, with each module lasting a double period of 90 minutes.
The education project was developed in cooperation with education agency YAEZ and the Association of German Banks and is aimed at school pupils from year 5 at all types of schools. The new digital learning modules, eduStories, now enable school students to acquire financial knowledge independently and in a fun way using their smartphone.
