Julie Mehretu's "Grey Area" at the Deutsche Guggenheim

The suite of paintings by the US-artist is presented as the fifteenth project within the commission series for the exhibition space in Berlin. On display from October 28, 2009 through January 6, 2010, Berlin plays a significant role in the investigation of memory and the urban experience in the Grey Area suite, first conceived during a residency at the American Academy in Berlin in 2007. Views 2009: And the winner is Wojiech Bakowski!

The “Views” prize for new Polish art was initiated by Deutsche Bank Foundation, Deutsche Bank Polska and Zacheta National Gallery in 2003 and was awarded in Warsaw this year for the fourth time. The EUR 15,000 prize goes this year to Wojciech Bąkowski. In addition, a grant for a three-month work stay at Villa Romana in Florence was awarded for the first time to Anna Molska.
