Each year, top world ranking golfers compete on Labor Day weekend at the TPC course designed by Arnold Palmer on the east coast of the United States. With such big stars as Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, Olin Browne, Trevor Immelman, Davis Love, Robert Karlsson or Carl Petterson, the world of golfing focuses its attention on this event – as do numerous TV cameras and the specialized press.
With the Deutsche Bank Championship, which has been held in Norton, Massachusetts since 2003 and has long been compared to world famous tournaments such as those in golf’s mecca, Augusta, Deutsche Bank once again proves its international orientation. Since 2007, the US PGA Tour tournament has been part of the new FedEx Cup, a playoff series comprising four consecutive tournaments.

The title and the $10 million prize money go to the golfer who collects the highest amount of points in all of the four tournaments. The first FedEx Cup was won straightaway by superstar Tiger Woods, who had also been the winner of the previous year’s Deutsche Bank Championship. In addition to its commitment to sport, Deutsche Bank, as title sponsor of this tournament, also shows its sense of social responsibility. The money raised through the Deutsche Bank Championship is donated to the Tiger Woods Foundation. This foundation, created by golf star Tiger Woods, funds projects that support children. Altogether, more than $10 million in donations has been given to the Foundation over the past five years.
