Deutsche Bank Convenes Industry Leaders at 30th Annual dbAccess European TMT Conference

London, September 2026 – Deutsche Bank successfully hosted the 30th annual dbAccess European Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) Conference in London on 2-3 September, bringing together leading executives, investors and industry experts to discuss the trends shaping the future of Europe's TMT sectors.

Marking three decades as one of Europe's premier TMT investor conferences, this year's event provided a platform for in-depth discussions on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, geopolitical developments and industry consolidation.

The event brought together c.400 attendees and connected institutional investors with more than 60 corporates from across Telecoms, Media and Technology.  The conference included representation from leading European TMT companies such as Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, Orange, Cellnex, RELX, Wolters Kluwer, CTS Eventim, Prosus, Infineon Technologies, Dassault, Nemetschek and ASM International.

More than ever, AI emerged as the defining theme running through discussions across all sectors, with company leaders sharing perspectives on how new technologies are transforming business models, driving investment decisions and creating opportunities for future growth.

"The European TMT landscape continues to evolve at an extraordinary pace," said Martin Blanquart and Mathew Mathew, Co-Heads of European TMT. "This year's conference highlighted both the opportunities and challenges facing companies as they navigate technological disruption, changing customer expectations and an increasingly complex global environment. Against this backdrop, M&A activity across the European TMT market remains robust, as companies look to accelerate growth, build scale and secure strategic capabilities, with cross-border transactions playing an increasingly important role in reshaping the competitive landscape".

Telecoms: Focus on Consolidation and Value Creation

European Telecoms started 2026 strongly as a defensive to AI and geopolitics risk but have partly retraced on cost inflation, continued capex spend on network infrastructure and concerns over disruption from Satellite technology. Investors and companies discussed the prospect of more consolidation across markets following consolidation in France, improving price trends and greater shareholder distributions as offering a supportive investment backdrop for the sector. Dispersion between best and worst placed companies in the sector remains high however so a 'back to school' telco update was a popular topic for investors.

Media: Responding to a Changing Environment

The Media sector has had a volatile year, and the conference   offered a great opportunity for investors to touch base with a diverse group of Media companies and get more colour on topics that are likely to impact them. Key topics discussed included:  Impact on consumer demand and advertising sentiment because of the Middle East conflict, AI as a disruptor or an opportunity for digital media / online platforms and the ability of European players to compete with the US media majors following further M&A consolidation and enhanced scale.

Technology: AI Investment Driving Momentum and Disruption in equal measure

In Technology, the conference offered a great opportunity to revisit the sector across European hardware and software after an eventful year. Within the semiconductor space, spending on AI infrastructure remains the stand-out theme and a key tailwind. The impact of geopolitics remains another key topic with European companies often finding themselves in the crosshairs of US/China tensions. In Software and IT services, investors continue to look for more proof-points from companies that their AI solutions (copilots and agentic) are seeing uptake by customers and monetization is becoming more meaningful. Although less pronounced than during the beginning of the year, concerns over AI "killing" software still remain in the market but investors also see software companies as increasingly better equipped to address these fears as their AI roadmaps progress and deployments of "incumbent" AI solutions accelerate.
