Plan India

By 2020 India will have a large youth population but only 2.3% of them would have received formal skills training. Youth living in resettlement and slum communities have no access to any training or development. Many have no employable skills that will help them to access employment.

Plan India transforms the lives of vulnerable children in India by providing them with access to protection, education, healthcare and the means to earn a living – all with the aim of enabling them to live with dignity. It aims to make a direct impact on the lives of two million children by 2020 through innovative pilot programmes.

Deutsche Bank is partnering with Plan to support 1,400 youth from urban poor families as part of its Born to Be youth engagement initiative. The programme will provide them with vocational training – including work-place communication, basic computer skills, life skills and financial literacy – to enable them to find good jobs and achieve financial security. The goal is to carry out job placement for at least 75% of them within a year.
