  • Employees from Japan and Asia combine to build second playground in Tohoku

    Volunteers from Japan and Asia joined hands again between November 7 to 9 to build a playground for an elementary school in Ishinomaki, a coastal town that was struck heavily by both the earthquake and subsequent tsunami of March 11, 2011. The event is one of a number in recent months to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Deutsche Bank Asia Foundation, the first and a significant contributor to the funds for relief efforts in Tohoku. more

  • Lakshya 2013 equips Indian non-profits for game changing development in the social sector

    In its second edition, ‘Lakshya’, Deutsche Bank’s capacity-building workshop for small and growing Indian non-government organisations (NGOs), has taken another decisive step towards being established as a forum where important social sector developmental issues are discussed and actionable solutions are determined. Held on October 23 at the MCA Club in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai’s upcoming business hub, Lakshya 2013 was attended by 150 delegates, including about 120 NGO representatives, several heads of Corporate Responsibility departments and Foundations, and other sector experts. more

  • SEWA Day Hong Kong – donate time through service rather than money

    On Sunday, October 6, 2013, more than 40 Deutsche Bank Hong Kong staff and family participated in the Sewa Day Food For Life project by cooking and distributing vegetarian food to over 1,000 underprivileged and elderly people in Hong Kong. Introduced to Deutsche Bank by Dixit Joshi, Head of Equities, Asia, this year’s event represented Deutsche Bank's second association with Food For Life, one of the world's largest vegetarian food relief networks. The project entailed chopping, cooking, packing, delivering and distributing food to the beneficiaries. Volunteers were being exposed to a different side of Hong Kong through the three delivery centres in Kowloon and New Territory (Sham Shui Po, Tuen Mun and Nam Cheong), leaving an indelible mark on all of them. more

  • Memorable afternoon onboard Star Virgo with St. Luke’s Eldercare

    Deutsche Bank Singapore volunteers spent a meaningful afternoon on September 20 along with staff of Star Cruise and elders from St. Luke’s Eldercare, as they accompanied the elders who were invited for a tour and entertainment onboard Star Virgo. The Star Cruise team was at Harbourfront terminal to ensure a smooth registration prior to boarding. Programmes on board include a performance showcasing Star Virgo's entertainment by singers and acrobats. The elderly responded with smiles, cheers and claps. more

  • “Buka Puasa” (Break fast) with the Children at Nur Zaharah Welfare Home

    Nur Zaharah Welfare Home is a home for 52 children (between the ages of 5 to 20) and ten caretakers. The children are from broken homes, abusive or poor families. Some were abandoned by their families and placed at the Orphanage, which is their only home. more

  • Spending a day with Eden Social Welfare Foundation

    On Saturday, August 17, employees from Global Technology and Operations (GTO) in Deutsche Bank Taiwan held a departmental volunteer day with the Eden Social Welfare Foundation. The destination was YiLan’s Center for the Mentally and Physically Handicapped. The center was set up to provide care for people between the ages of 16 and 64, who require medium to high levels of support in dealing with a variety of disabilities including autism, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and other physical handicaps. Most are long-term residents, and the centre is like their home with the social workers being their family. more

  • Corporate volunteers renovate Baan Kang Pralom School in Kanchanaburi province

    Viewed from a distance, the Govandi slums looks vaguely like a massive grey mountain. This area is in fact one of the largest garbage dump sites in Mumbai, India, and more importantly, the means of daily livelihood for the entire community living in that part of the city. Every day, the urban poor rummage through the dumpsite looking for a way to feed themselves. more

  • Deutsche volunteers bring smiles to Neijiang, China

    In continuing celebration of the tenth anniversary of Deutsche Bank Asia Foundation (DBAF) this year, a second volunteer exchange trip to was organised from June 19 to 25. 19 volunteers from five countries across Asia Pacific spent five long hectic days with Operation Smile on a medical mission in Neijiang, a prefecture-level city in Sichuan Province in southwest of China. more
