Deutsche Bank's Corporate Responsibility programme is anchored on the principle of 'Building Social Capital'. Our Corporate Responsibility programme focuses on critical issues in these areas and is carried out across Asia through the Deutsche Bank Asia Foundation.

  • Fundraising for solar lighting project in India’s villages: Third edition of Trade for a Cause is largest fundraiser by India employees

    Deutsche Bank, in partnership with the Chirag Rural Development Foundation (Project Chirag), is drawing on solar energy to help light up villages in rural India that are off the power grid. Since 2010, Deutsche Bank has supported Project Chirag, which began as a college initiative and is now a non-profit organisation active in 160 villages. more

  • Tour de Singapore with aidha

    To kick off 2014 with a bang, on Sunday, 16 February Deutsche Bank partnered with aidha – a non-profit organisation dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty for domestic workers through financial literacy and entrepreneurship – along with other financial institutions, to hold the Tour de Singapore bike ride. more

  • Deutsche Bank Singapore holds charity bazaar to raise funds for Typhoon Haiyan

    November 2013 | Singapore

    The annual Christmas Charity Bazaar in Singapore was held in the One Raffles Quay office on November 29. Eight local charities and one regional charity were invited to set up booths selling various items for charity, including handmade jewellery, bags, novelty items, baked goods, and finger food. Deutsche Bank volunteers championed each cause and took the lead in liaising with the charities. More than 20 volunteers helped to set up and man the stalls, enthusiastically promoting the products to colleagues. more

  • New school building and water filters for villagers of Haburugala, Sri Lanka

    Villagers in Haburugala belong to one of the poorest communities in Sri Lanka. They make a living from agriculture, and usually only earn a daily wage. The spread of chronic kidney disease, previously only prevalent in the North Central Province, only adds to the woes of the villagers. According to medical experts, the disease is believed to be caused by agricultural pesticides gradually contaminating the water over the years. 400 farmer families, identified with the support of the divisional secretariat officials from four grama-seva divisions, were provided with drinking water filters. More than 2000 villagers are expected to benefit from the water filters. more

  • Lakshya 2013 equips Indian non-profits for game changing development in the social sector

    In its second edition, ‘Lakshya’, Deutsche Bank’s capacity-building workshop for small and growing Indian non-government organisations (NGOs), has taken another decisive step towards being established as a forum where important social sector developmental issues are discussed and actionable solutions are determined. Held on October 23 at the MCA Club in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai’s upcoming business hub, Lakshya 2013 was attended by 150 delegates, including about 120 NGO representatives, several heads of Corporate Responsibility departments and Foundations, and other sector experts. more

  • SEWA Day Hong Kong – donate time through service rather than money

    On Sunday, October 6, 2013, more than 40 Deutsche Bank Hong Kong staff and family participated in the Sewa Day Food For Life project by cooking and distributing vegetarian food to over 1,000 underprivileged and elderly people in Hong Kong. Introduced to Deutsche Bank by Dixit Joshi, Head of Equities, Asia, this year’s event represented Deutsche Bank's second association with Food For Life, one of the world's largest vegetarian food relief networks. The project entailed chopping, cooking, packing, delivering and distributing food to the beneficiaries. Volunteers were being exposed to a different side of Hong Kong through the three delivery centres in Kowloon and New Territory (Sham Shui Po, Tuen Mun and Nam Cheong), leaving an indelible mark on all of them. more

  • Willing hands at Willing Hearts in September

    On September 2 and 9, a total of 53 pairs of willing hands helped out at Willing Hearts. The place gives new meaning to the term ‘hit the ground running’. When the volunteers arrived at 6.30am, Tony Tay, the founder, was already at Willing Hearts and cooking had begun. more

  • Memorable afternoon onboard Star Virgo with St. Luke’s Eldercare

    September 2013 | Singapore

    Deutsche Bank Singapore volunteers spent a meaningful afternoon on September 20 along with staff of Star Cruise and elders from St. Luke’s Eldercare, as they accompanied the elders who were invited for a tour and entertainment onboard Star Virgo. The Star Cruise team was at Harbourfront terminal to ensure a smooth registration prior to boarding. Programmes on board include a performance showcasing Star Virgo's entertainment by singers and acrobats. The elderly responded with smiles, cheers and claps. more

  • “Buka Puasa” (Break fast) with the Children at Nur Zaharah Welfare Home

    Nur Zaharah Welfare Home is a home for 52 children (between the ages of 5 to 20) and ten caretakers. The children are from broken homes, abusive or poor families. Some were abandoned by their families and placed at the Orphanage, which is their only home. more

  • Volunteers pack 'back-to-school' kits for underprivileged children

    Every year, the Deutsche Bank India Corporate Responsibility team collaborates with the Seva Sahayog Foundation, a local non-profit organization involved in education work, to organise fundraising for back-to-school kits to donate to children from underprivileged homes. more

  • Deutsche Bank and Client Join Forces in a Corporate Responsibility Effort – Project Washing-thon

    For the first time, Deutsche Bank Singapore teamed up with a customer beyond doing business and delivered much needed cleaned pre-loved clothes to deserving causes in Southeast Asia. Electrolux, a long time Global Transaction Banking customer in Asia, provided expertise in laundry and Deutsche Bank did what we are good at to drive collection efforts internally and sent our volunteers to wash, fold and pack! more

  • Deutsche volunteers bring smiles to Neijiang, China

    In continuing celebration of the tenth anniversary of Deutsche Bank Asia Foundation (DBAF) this year, a second volunteer exchange trip to was organised from June 19 to 25. 19 volunteers from five countries across Asia Pacific spent five long hectic days with Operation Smile on a medical mission in Neijiang, a prefecture-level city in Sichuan Province in southwest of China. more

  • '5,000 Popcorns', another unique Corporate Citizenship initiative by Deutsche India

    On December 19, an early winter morning, over 50 employee volunteers got out of their homes to spend the next few hours with about 5,000 children from municipal schools and slum-based learning centres.   • A day of music and art for Deutsche Singapore

    Deutsche Bank staff in Singapore celebrated compassion through art, as they put brush to canvas and joined the local Charities of the Year (CotY) beneficiaries for a lunchtime mural painting session on Wednesday, November 28 in One Raffles Quay. The mural designed by Social Creatives, a social enterprise, celebrates Deutsche Bank's 40th anniversary in Singapore and tells the Deutsche Singapore CSR story, honouring a year of giving and volunteerism. The mural was partly painted by children and elderly community members who represented the three charities supported by CotY. more

On Monday, 15 October, these volunteers participated in the Be!Fund Interview Day to assess business plans of five young women entrepreneurs. The entrepreneurs – Shoiba, Sultana, Bindu, Kavita and Sheeba – came from different impoverished parts of Mumbai to pitch their business idea for funding from the Deutsche Bank-Be!   • Deutsche Bank partners with children from Changing Young Lives Foundation to better understand organic farming

    On July 22, 2012, Deutsche Bank partnered with the Changing Young Lives Foundation to organise a CSR event at an organic farm owned by the Produce Green Foundation. Led by the Deutsche Bank Hong Kong Risk Operations and Compliance teams, 20 volunteers connected with 30 children and their families in a day to better understand organic farming and gain environmental education. more

  • Deutsche Bank sponsors construction of schools in Manila

    In May 2012, corporate volunteers from Philippines visited the Tanza Elementary School in Navotas City, a fishing village located in Metro Manila. The volunteers, together with the students, painted a mural for the school. The mural depicts children caring for the environment and highlights the impact of climate change. more

    In celebration of Green Week, Deutsche Bank organized a workshop for employees with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) to make ‘green music’ using recycled materials.   • Investing in Vietnam’s future – Vocational training for underprivileged youths

    It is quite a long and dusty journey from Hanoi to Tien Lang, an impoverished district in the heart of the Red River delta, a journey that took three hours for the Deutsche Bank corporate volunteers. On the way, the volunteers passed green paddy fields , busy farmers with the typical Vietnamese cone hats, tranquil water buffalos, small towns and poor villages. Several times, they had to stop and ask locals for the way to that remote district, south of the harbor city of Haiphong, where its project partner Save the Children Vietnam has helped Deutsche Bank identify a social investment project. more

  • 1,300 children in Andhra Pradesh receive school supplies sponsored by Deutsche Bank

    On 20 June, Annie Yeo, Head of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility Asia, visited Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, India to attend the ‘School Grant Ceremony to Vulnerable Children’ sponsored by the Bank, where 1,300 school bags with school supplies were distributed to children affected by HIV/AIDS. This programme is implemented by the city-based Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM), a non-profit organization which the Bank has been partnering with since 2005. VMM provides education opportunities, shelter and medical care for underprivileged children. more

  • Project Sunshine: Bringing Brightness to Batam

    Following from last year’s Batam CSR project, 15 staff volunteers from GBS, GTB, GTO and Fin have once again collaborated with Yayasan Citramas Foundation on ‘Project Sunshine”, a three-day volunteering exercise from the 24th to the 26th of June. The beneficiaries of this trip were the students of Sekolah Permata Nusantara located in Nongsa, Batam. more
