Graduate Careers

We feed our agile minds with education, experience and exposure.

What you learn in the classroom will give you a broad skill set that can be tailored to your needs and interests as you develop your career.

It begins with six weeks of induction in London with the rest of your graduate class, learning the basics and getting to know people from all over the world you will stay in touch with for years. Later on, at the midway point in your programme, we'll teach you how to manage projects and people. Then just before graduation you'll get training in career planning and management.

There will be lots of opportunities for you to learn, grow and advance with us, if you are willing to take on more responsibility, further training and new roles. Whatever you want to do is possible, but it's up to you to make it happen.

On the job learning allows you to put your training into practice. Two rotations (which are the same as placements), of four to eight months are typical. These may be in the division you joined or elsewhere within GTO - wherever you'll be able to learn and contribute most.

You'll enjoy the variety of your rotations, which will extend your horizons in every direction. You'll be given a different role each time to encounter new challenges and develop your skills.

The objectives you agree with your line manager will provide the structure for you to gain the experience you want. These will be focused on using creativity and innovation to address business goals.

Some organisations keep their graduates in reserve. Here you will be on the front line immediately, expected to take on the same work as more senior colleagues from day one. Investment banking is one of the most competitive industries. We need to be one step ahead at all times. To do things faster and better than anyone else we need the invention and passion that you bring to every challenge.

Just because we have such a high regard for you as an individual, that's not to say you're left to sink or swim. As well as the support of your line manager and team, there are buddies and mentors to help you settle in and advise you on how to find your way around.

There's a wide range of training courses you can go on and talent development programmes to build leadership skills. Plus briefings and presentations on need to know topics by subject matter experts and members of senior management, to broaden your mind and your networks. Why give so much special attention to graduates? Because the future of our business is in your hands.
