The Foundation began its activity in 1995. Today it is present in 18 hospitals in 11 cities with 28 Italian Giggle Doctors who visit and bring a smile each year to more than 35,000 children in care . Theodora Foundation selects the giggle doctors, finances their training, seminars update and their continuous psychological counceling, as well as organises their activities, ensuring high quality visits. Giggle doctors are completely free for hospitals and, of course, for young patients' families.

Portofranco is a center of study assistance for middle and high school students. In 2016 it hosted more than 1.700 students thereof 500 foreigners/immigrants. Thanks to more than 350 volunteers, among current and retired teachers, professionals and university students, Portofranco offers free support to daily homework, remedial programs and behavioral issues totaling about 20.000 hours per year.

The Community of San Patrignano is the most important anti-drug centre in all of Europe and it houses over 1,300 young people. From 1978 to the present day, San Patrignano has welcomed more than 25,000 people from hundreds of different nations, totally free of charge, without charges for either their families or the State, offering them a home, health and legal assistance, the possibility to study, learn a trade and return fully to society at the end of their recovery path.
