The financial marketplace

Where business is at home

Barely discernible with the naked eye on the globe but not to be overlooked by the global economy, Luxembourg is one of the top 10 financial marketplaces in the world and represents the world’s second-largest fund location. This has paid off: Luxembourg is one of the wealthiest countries in Europe as well as being one of the strongest in terms of growth.

An economic position which has done much for the country. As early as the 1920s, the Grand Duchy created the framework conditions to attract foreign capital. During the 1960s, the Luxembourg government recognised and promoted the market for European foreign exchange and bonds. And while most other European countries were trying to plug the holes in their budgets with one new tax law after another in the 1970s and 80s, Luxembourg relied on an investment-friendly environment. With the result that new funds as well as associated and investment companies have sprouted every year since the early 1990s and the insurance sector has also taken advantage of the benefits offered by the Grand Duchy as a location.

Luxembourg’s secret to success

Luxembourg's secret to success: clarity and versatility. On the one hand strict banking secrecy and a stringent money laundering law, on the other hand a competitive tax policy and pragmatic officials who handle approval processes swiftly and unbureaucratically. Reliability is writ big in Luxembourg. The stable political situation guarantees planning security for major and private investors. And has done so for decades.
