Deutsche Bank supports increased Taiwanese investment and expansion in Germany

Investment activity between Taiwan and Germany is set to further accelerate following a seminar hosted this week by Deutsche Bank, KPMG, the German Trade Office Taipei, and Saxony Trade & Invest. The event convened experts across banking, investment, legal, tax, and workforce mobility to discuss practical market-entry and expansion considerations for Taiwanese technology companies pursuing opportunities in Germany.

Bilateral trade between Taiwan and Germany reached approximately USD 21.7 billion in 2025, marking the fifth consecutive year that trade exceeded the USD 20 billion threshold. The global AI build-out is creating a multi-year investment cycle that is driving substantial funding requirements among Taiwanese technology companies. As businesses expand production capacity, build new facilities overseas, and strengthen supply chains, demand for banking services and financing solutions along the Taiwan-Germany corridor continues to rise.

"Taiwanese client interest in Europe has risen sharply as Taiwan’s technology ecosystem across the continent has grown. Germany is emerging as a favoured investment destination, particularly following major semiconductor industry development in Dresden," said Cynthia Chan, Deutsche Bank CEO for Taiwan.

We are mobilizing our platform on both sides of this corridor to support our clients’ expanding needs, from their initial investment decision through to the financing, treasury, trade, and day-to-day banking requirements of a growing operation in Europe. Cynthia Chan

Deutsche Bank is the only bank in the world that operates branches in both Taipei and Dresden, providing clients with seamless connectivity across one of the most active investment corridors between Asia and Europe. To support the rapidly growing demand from Taiwanese companies, the bank recently established a dedicated Taiwan coverage team in Dresden.

“Taiwanese technology companies are increasingly looking to support customers locally in Europe, diversify supply chains, and establish manufacturing footprints closer to end markets,” added Ingrid Chang, Deutsche Bank Head of Corporate Bank for Taiwan. “We are seeing growing demand for trade finance associated with large-scale construction projects, equipment procurement, contractor obligations, and operational requirements.”
