Evolution of Deutsche Bank’s supplier ESG rating approach

Since 2022, Deutsche Bank has worked in close partnership with suppliers to implement sustainability requirements across its supply chain. This collaboration has resulted in the broad adoption of these requirements across the supplier base.

At the same time, established market practices differ and have evolved across sectors and regions and applicable regulatory frameworks may call for different supplier-selection criteria.

Therefore, Deutsche Bank has decided to conclude the formal requirement for vendors to meet the ESG rating threshold. It will, however, look to evolve its approach while keeping the ambition to work with vendors with a strong sustainability strategy implementation.

A strong ESG rating from an approved provider is and will remain an important criterion and a relevant consideration in supplier engagement and procurement. The bank will apply this rationale in line with applicable policies, regulatory requirements, market practice and business needs.
