Deutsche Bank supports Akaysha Energy with Australian battery storage portfolio refinancing
Deutsche Bank participates in the financing for Akaysha Energy’s 1,086-megawatt portfolio of battery storage assets across Australia.
Deutsche Bank acted as Original Lender and Mandated Lead Arranger on the refinancing of Akaysha Energy’s 1,086-megawatt Australian battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio, participating in the longer-tenor tranches of the AUD 1.75 billion senior secured, non-recourse portfolio financing. As the largest lender in the 10-year tranche, Deutsche Bank’s participation underscores its commitment to providing long-term capital to support the continued growth of Akaysha Energy’s Australian battery storage portfolio.
The facility refinances existing project-level debt across four utility-scale BESS assets into a single portfolio-level financing structure, providing a streamlined, flexible and scalable framework to support Akaysha Energy’s continued portfolio expansion and the evolving need for large-scale energy storage.
The financing supports a portfolio comprising Ulinda Park 1, Brendale, Orana and Elaine BESS, located across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Ulinda Park 1, Brendale and Orana are already operational while Elaine remains on track to complete construction in the second half of 2027.
The financing also incorporates additional flexibility as Akaysha Energy advances its 5.7GW / 22.9GWh+ Australian development pipeline across the National Electricity Market.
