FareShare estimates: 50 pounds can help distribute enough food for 200 nutritious meals
Covid-19 CSR community relief: learn more about our Food & Shelter partner charities around the world
Across the UK, FareShare redistributes surplus food to an average of 1 million people each week, through more than 10,000 homeless shelters, children’s breakfast clubs, domestic violence refuge centres, elderly groups and more. The Coronavirus pandemic is increasing demand on their services, stretching global food supplies, causing local support services to close and impinging upon people’s ability to feed themselves or their families.
To meet the growing demand for nutritious meals, FareShare is adapting its services to provide food parcels and be a lifeline for those most at risk. FareShare estimates 50 pounds can help distribute enough food for 200 nutritious meals.
“During my volunteering days with FareShare I see how vital their work is in providing the right food to some of the most vulnerable communities. Throughout the crisis they will be working incredibly hard and long hours to provide essential food supplies to countless isolated, at-risk individuals and families,” says Audrey from Anti-Financial Crime, who has volunteered at FareShare’s east London hub since 2018 and seen first-hand the impact of the charity’s work.
FareShare is one of the selected partners that benefits from our Corporate Social Responsibility Covid-19 relief campaign, which encourages all Deutsche Bank employees to support food and shelter charities that serve their most vulnerable neighbours, including low-income children and families, the elderly, and individuals experiencing homelessness. The bank has set the ball rolling with a total of 500,000 euro in up-front donations to these long-standing CSR partner charities and will match all employee donations towards them.
