Deutsche Bank cosponsors the TEFAF Art Fair in Maastricht in 2008

The European Fine Art Fair TEFAF (March 7 – 16, March 2008) in Maastricht, The Netherlands, will be sponsored by Deutsche Bank. In 2008 the bank will continue its long-term support of TAFAF, one of the world's leading art and antiques fairs.

"TEFAF is an art fair extraordinaire that is also becoming increasingly relevant for contemporary art," says Friedhelm Hütte, Global Head Deutsche Bank Art (CSR), commenting on the bank's partnership with the art fair. As in previous years, Deutsche Bank will be present at TEFAF with its Art Lounge and exhibit artworks from its own collection. The focus of its presentation will be a key work from the Deutsche Bank collection entitled "De Luxe" (2004-05) by US artist Ellen Gallagher that comprises a portfolio of 60 prints. Gallagher is one of the major Afro-American artists of the present. In her "De Luxe" series she combines depictions of black models from magazine advertisements and her own fictional material which she transforms with painting and drawing techniques. Deutsche Bank's exhibit is thus dedicated to a single artistic position that is representative of the company's art collecting activities and social commitment.

Since its beginning as the "Pictura Fine Art Fair" in 1975, TEFAF has evolved into one of the most influential international art fairs with exhibits from antiquity to the present. The offering of paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, furniture, books and manuscripts, textiles, porcelain, glass, silver and jewels ranges from antiques to contemporary art. The art fair has steadily gained importance in the contemporary art field. This year 227 galleries and antique dealers from 15 countries will be exhibiting at the 21st edition of TEFAF.

Deutsche Bank has set new benchmarks with its commitment to contemporary art. It has long maintained a presence at selected art fairs around the world. Art fairs sponsored by Deutsche Bank include the Frieze Art Fair in London and Art Cologne (April 16-20, 2008).
