Deutsche Bank supports Octopus Investments Australia

Provides greenfield financing for Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System – among the largest hybrid designs in Australia.

Deutsche Bank has acted as Financier for Octopus Investments Australia’s Blind Creek Solar Farm (BCSF) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in New South Wales. This is one of the largest hybrid designs of its kind in Australia.

As part of the total financing, Deutsche Bank provided a 5-year construction and term loan facility, a debt service reserve facility, bank guarantees, and a pro-rata share of the interest rate swaps.

Once operational, Blind Creek Solar Farm and Battery will be a 300-megawatt solar farm with a co-located battery storage of 243-megawatts - enough to power approximately 120,000 homes and businesses.

This project will integrate Agrisolar design to improve lamb production and facilitate regenerative agricultural principles.

“We are pleased to support renewable energy projects, like this one for Octopus Investments Australia, which align with Australia’s energy transition,” Rachel Chia, Head of Project Finance for APAC at Deutsche Bank shared. “Deutsche Bank has proven expertise in structuring complex financings and offers a suite of solutions for our clients across the infrastructure and energy markets.”

Since 2019, the Corporate Bank has actively supported project financings across Australia and has financed over 40 renewable energy assets in the country, establishing itself as one of the leading financiers in the renewable energy sector.
