Deutsche Bank helps shape Google Cloud’s new AI solution for financial services
Deutsche Bank participated as a key design partner for the Financial Research Agent, an AI-powered research solution that forms a core part of Google Cloud’s new Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services solution launched today.
The solution is designed for complex, regulated financial services workflows. It brings together company, financial and market information into structured, traceable insights that support decision-making. It is intended to help employees move more efficiently from information gathering to informed client discussions while maintaining strict controls around security, governance and compliance.
In the collaboration, Deutsche Bank contributed banking expertise and helped shape requirements around security, auditability, data residency and user needs. The initiative reflects the bank’s approach to applying artificial intelligence to drive business growth and improve efficiency, while maintaining the high standards of control and trust required in financial services.
Google Cloud plans to make the Financial Research Agent available to financial services organisations more broadly through Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services.
"As a design partner, Deutsche Bank has helped shape this capability around the realities of a highly regulated industry — from data protection and governance to the workflows our teams use every day," said Marie-Jeanne Deverdun, Chief Technology, Data and Innovation Officer and Member of the Deutsche Bank Management Board. "Starting in the Corporate Bank, we see significant potential to reduce manual research effort, improve the consistency and auditability of outputs, and give our teams more time for client conversations. This is an important step in applying AI where it can make a practical difference: safely, responsibly and at scale."
Deutsche Bank will be using the Financial Research Agent across its Corporate Bank, with potential future applications across other business areas. Its reusable technology framework and financial-services-specific capabilities are designed to support a broad range of use cases and help scale responsible adoption of AI across the bank.
Understanding the Financial Research Agent: Key questions answered
What is the Financial Research Agent and how does it work?
The Financial Research Agent is an AI-powered research solution designed specifically for financial services. The solution was developed through Deutsche Bank's design partnership with Google Cloud. It brings together market information, company data, financial performance indicators and other relevant sources to help employees complete complex research and analysis more efficiently. Using finance-specific personas and specialised skills, it can generate structured outputs such as client briefings, financial analyses and other research materials, helping teams move more quickly from information gathering to informed decision-making.
How is the Financial Research Agent different from a general-purpose AI assistant?
Unlike general-purpose AI assistants, the Financial Research Agent has been built specifically for financial-services workflows. It combines finance-focused expertise, predefined roles and specialised skills with tools that can access and analyse relevant information sources in a controlled way. The solution is designed to produce consistent, traceable and auditable outputs, making it suitable for regulated business processes. Its architecture also allows organisations to adapt the solution for additional financial-services use cases, without having to build separate AI solutions from scratch.
How does this AI tool ensure data security and regulatory compliance in banking?
The Financial Research Agent is designed for use in regulated financial environments. Deutsche Bank contributed requirements relating to security, governance, auditability, access controls and data residency as part of its role as a key design partner. The solution operates within existing permission structures, keeps sensitive information within secure environments and provides outputs linked to verifiable sources. It also includes enterprise-grade controls such as encryption, audit logging and access management features to support the responsible use of AI.
How will Deutsche Bank's clients benefit from this technology?
Deutsche Bank will be using the Financial Research Agent initially with teams serving German MidCorp clients (medium-sized corporate clients) in the Corporate Bank. The solution is designed to help employees spend less time gathering and analysing information and more time applying their expertise to client needs. By bringing together company information, financial performance and market developments into structured insights, it can help bankers prepare more effectively, identify relevant opportunities earlier, have more informed client conversations and support better decision-making. Over time, Deutsche Bank expects to expand the technology to additional business areas, supporting stronger client relationships, more targeted solutions and better outcomes across a broader range of clients and services
